The Tea House is a very special place. Draped by the existing mature willow it feels like it has always been here. The Natusume basin to the right is for purification prior to the tea ceremony. The vertical rock was placed to the left to help frame the traditional entrance to the Tea House.

The terraced beds providea great opportunity to mix textures, color and cascading plants. The grasses soften and anchor the wall.

A dramatic entry with brick piers and apron opening to an asphalt driveway, ending in a drive court detailed with a cushwa brick medallion inlay. The drive is lined with the same brick curb that pulls from the brick inlay above the great window at the homes entry. The apron is also trimmed with a soldier course of brick. The hedge is boxwood, underplanted with hosta and ground cover. The gardens in the background are filled with 'Tina' crabapple, Hydrangea, boxwood, and Pachysandra ground cover. APLD 2021 Silver Award Winning Landscape Design. An expansive back yard landscape with several mature oak trees and a stunning Golden Locust tree has been transformed into a welcoming outdoor retreat. The renovations include a wraparound deck, an expansive travertine natural stone patio, stairways and pathways along with concrete retaining walls and column accents with dramatic planters. The pathways meander throughout the landscape... some with travertine stepping stones and gravel and those below the majestic oaks left natural with fallen leaves. Raised vegetable beds and fruit trees occupy some of the sunniest areas of the landscape. A variety of low-water and low-maintenance plants for both sunny and shady areas include several succulents, grasses, CA natives and other site-appropriate Mediterranean plants complimented by a variety of boulders. Dramatic white pots provide architectural accents, filled with succulents and citrus trees. Design, Photos, Drawings © Eileen Kelly, Dig Your Garden Landscape Design

From the front entry, this view captures the layered composition of the redesigned front yard. In the foreground, newly planted shrubs and perennials are set in dark mulch, ready to grow and bring fullness to the space. The lawn and softly contoured grass mound sit just beyond, adding shape and movement to the landscape. Framing it all is the curved retaining wall, close enough to appreciate its elegant form and mix of creamy stone and smooth beige cap. The combination of plantings, texture, and structure brings new life and interest to what was once a flat, plain yard.

This home features extensive outdoor landscaping including a koi pond, infinity pool, waterslide, lower pool, putting green and turf accented concrete areas.

Large scale project began with the natural stone English style garden on the island with a water fountain as a central feature. The backyard was terraced to provide a more even surface for weekend sports with the children. The terracing was framed near the house with a 3 foot deep channel that will hold koi. On one side is a fire pit with amphitheater style seating and the other side opens up for the koi. There is an edible garden and butterfly garden as well. The entrance is punctuated with a large 10 foot diameter fountain. The entire landscape is on automated lighting with underwater lighting as well.
